Near San Simeon is the famous Hearst Castle, which you can see on the top of the hill here. We didn't want to pay the $20 each for tickets, so this is all we got.

We were actually purchasing some of the most expensive gas in America at the time, $3.459 for a gallon of regular unleaded! (gas stations are pretty scarcely located on some stretches of HW1, so we had to get a couple of gallons...)
